Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
  2. Bachelor of Education Degree
  3. Minimum of two years teaching experience with EAL students
  4. Hold or be working towards a "Teahcing English as an Additional Language" Certificate
  5. Ability to speak German would be an asset.

The incumbent will coordinate a divisional approach to English as an Additional Language programming, working in and with schools to implement divisional recommendations.

The Division:

Garden Valley School Division is a dynamic, innovative, and visionary school division located in the heartland of industrialized south central Manitoba. It has a student population of over 4,000 and is growing at a rate of approximately 90 students per year. The City of Winkler, the industrial hub and home to the division’s administrative office, high school, and four of its seven early and middle years administrative units, has all the amenities of a larger city within a rural setting. It is a seventy-five minute drive south of the capital, Winnipeg, and twenty minutes north of the United States border.

This position requires a willingness to work with the school teams within a Consultative / Collaborative Model. The duties include conducting student assessments, report writing, the supervision of school-based speech and language assistants and consultation with parents. A driver’s license and vehicle are required.

Applicants must have graduated from a recognized program and be eligible for clinician certification as well as Manitoba Speech and Hearing licensure.
