Position: Band Teacher (Grade 5-8)

Responsible for teaching Grade 7 Math

Employment Status: 100 % Term ***

School/Location: Winkler Elementary School & Parkland Elementary School

Start Date: January 4, 2010 to June 30, 2010 or sooner 

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate
  2. Experience and/or training in the advertised position
  3. Demonstrates GVSD Core Competencies
  4. Satisfactory Pre-Employment Security Check
  5. Ability to relate to the school community and community value base

Salary and Benefits:

The compensation package for this position is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Garden Valley School Division and the Garden Valley Teachers’ Association.

Winkler Elementary School is a K-8 school in the heart of Winkler with a student population of approximately 600. Students are offered a full range of academic programs including junior high Home Economics and Industrial Arts, French and German as second language options, and a band program starting in grade five. The school is particularly noted for its choirs and vocal and instrumental extra-curricular jazz groups.

 Parkland Elementary School, located in a growing subdivision in the north western part of the City of Winkler, is a dynamic and innovative Grades K-8 school.  It has a student enrolment of approximately 455, a professional staff of 27 and a support staff of 22.  Parkland Elementary School has a proud tradition of excellence in academics, technology education, and fine arts programs.  The school is supported by a progressive and thriving community which values education.
