Planning continues for the development of the new Northlands Parkway Collegiate. Excitement for this project is growing, as project stakeholders prepare to begin construction on what will be a state-of-the-art high school facility.
The new high school will be built to what is known as a 'Leed Gold Standard', and will feature many new technologies that will make the school environmentally efficient.
Educational program planning for NPC is ongoing as well, with input from GVC teaching staff and administration forming a firm foundation for existing and new programs. NPC will provide permanent homes for Cosmetology/Esthetician, Culinary Arts (including pastry shop), Environmental Technology, as well as a child care facility.
Garden Valley School Division officials are planning to host an informational open house for NPC early in fall (date to be announced soon) where the community will have an opportunity hear how their input has been incorporated into the school's design. The community will also have an opportunity to examine large-sized drawings and receive more details about this construction. The project tender for NPC is expected to go out early in 2011 and the school is expected to be ready for occupancy in September 2013.
