Garden Valley School Division hosted its first-ever Budget Exhibition evening in the GVC Gymnasium on Wednesday, February 22nd. The new come & go format, with a trade show-like setup, was a great sucess and well attended by the community.
The exhibition layout allowed valuable conversations to take place, and gave the division an opportunity to showcase the many outstanding programs being supported by the annual division budget.
With a focus on student learning, each GVSD school hosted its own school exhibit, highlighting programs or initiatives that are current priorities for the school. By seeing and 'sampling' a wide variety of vocational skills in action, students and parents also had a chance to learn more about the skilled trades and the technical vocational opportunities available to our students through the RRTVA.
As part of the exhibition, the Board hosted a separate exhibit focused on the GVSD budget. Educational partners, such as Imagination Library and the Winkler Family Resource Center, were also on hand to showcase the ways in which they support the work of the school division. Also bringing into view the inspiring achievements of our students, attendees were treated to lively musical performances by high school and elementary band students, and also enjoyed refreshments provided by the NPC culinary/baking program.
