Press Release: Winkler Elementary School Principal
The Garden Valley School Division Board of Trustees, is pleased to announce the appointment Cindy Hamilton to the position of 100% Permanent Principal at Winkler Elementary School. This appointment will be effective September 4, 2018.
Cindy brings to the position 19 years of teaching experience with Garden Valley School Division, has completed her Level 1 School Administrator’s certificate, and is working towards her Post Baccalaureate Diploma in School Administration. Cindy is currently the Vice Principal at Winkler Elementary School and has served in this role since 2015.
Cindy’s educational philosophy belief, in part, states that “It is everyone’s responsibility to support the students in their education. The school should be a place where everyone, adults and children, parents, and community members, work together to assist and inspire each child to succeed. Inclusive classrooms are imperative for all students to feel that they belong in their classroom with their homeroom teacher and together with their peers, regardless of their abilities. Celebrating differences and learning from each other is the best way to appreciate diversity and promote acceptance of others”.

Press Release: Parkland Elementary School Principal
The Garden Valley School Division Board of Trustees, is pleased to announce the appointment of Carrie Friesen to the position of 100% permanent Principal at Parkland Elementary School. This appointment will be effective the 2018-2019 school year.
Carrie has served GVSD for 12 years, with eight of those years working in Resource & Guidance. For the past 4 years, she has served as the Vice Principal of Garden Valley Collegiate. Carrie brings a wealth of experience through many different roles from grades K-12. She has her Level 1 & Level 2 Administration Certificate, a Special Education Certificate, two post baccalaureate degrees with a focus in special education and guidance counseling/administration. In addition, she also holds a Master’s Degree in Inclusive Education/Administration.
Carrie and her family have lived in Winkler for 12 years and loves being a part of this community. She is looking forward to developing relationships and serving the Parkland Elementary School community in fall.

Press Release: Pine Ridge Elementary School Principal
The Garden Valley School Division Board of Trustees, is pleased to announce the appointment of Renae Hildebrand to the position of 100% permanent Principal position at Pine Ridge Elementary School. This appointment will be effective February 4, 2019.
Renae brings to the position 20 years of teaching experience with Garden Valley School Division where she has experience teaching grades K-8, EAL and Resource. Renae is currently the school principal of the Border Valley/Blumenfeld Administration Unit. She has held this role since September 2013.
Renae’s philosophy of educational leadership and beliefs, include in part, “…that an educational leader needs first and foremost to be a service leader…needs to have great vision for the school and community …an educational leader is collaborative.” Renae is excited to begin this journey of opening the school divisions newest school.
