1.  Northlands Parkway Collegiate Presentation • Principal Tammy Macdonald provided an overview of the progress of department PLC (Professional Learning Communities) goals at

Northlands Parkway Collegiate.  Student achievement has improved in many areas as teachers collaborate on meeting student learning needs. • Vice Principal Jeff Osinski highlighted a number extra- and co-curricular events:  o The students and staff presented the drama, Les Miserables.  o The band and choir trip to New York saw the band medaling gold and the choir silver.  o The Travel Club visited Greece over Spring Break.  o The Youth in Philanthropy will be donating proceeds from fundraisers to local organizations. o The Student Council organizes fun student events and runs monthly assemblies. 

2.  RRTVA (Red River Technical Vocational Area) • The RRTVA is a group of school divisions consisting of Border Land, Garden Valley, Red River Valley, Western, and the DSFM school divisions dedicated to providing access to high quality technology education programs for area high school students. • The Backstage Theatre program in Morden, Mb. will be discontinued.  However, Morden Collegiate students will be able to take individual Backstage Theatre courses as electives. • Western School Division is planning to offer a Pipefitting Program in the 2016/17 school year. • A number of students medaled at Skills Manitoba on April 14th, including two gold, three silver and one bronze.  For details go to www.gvsd.ca • A Sustainable Energy Expo was held in Altona on April 28 with numerous displays by students, local industry and businesses, and post-secondary institutions. • 2016/17 tuition fees for adult students wanting to access available seats in RRTVA programs will be posted on the website  http://www.blsd.ca/school/rrt/Pages/default.aspx 

3.  GVSD Board Community Connections Committee Report • The Board will host a high school student forum at Northlands Parkway Collegiate on Oct. 27, 2016 to receive feedback on students’ transition from middle years to high school, the GVSD mission statement, the quality of programs/courses offered, and supports for student wellness / mental health.

4.  2016-2017 Staffing Update • To date 52 positons have been posted, 37 are filled (86% are internal candidates currently holding term positions in GVSD).
