e bulletin 31.  JR Walkof School Presentation
• JR Walkof staff members Jamie Dyck and Cecilia Gil were joined by a group of grade 4 students who provided trustees with a wonderful demonstration of musical skills developed as part of the music program at JR Walkof School.
• Following that demonstration, teachers Kristen Falk, Margaret Bergen, Bryce Bergman, Tania Thiessen and Emily Dueck provided a demonstration on some math strategies used in the grade 2 classrooms.

2.  Kindergarten Registrations
• Current registrations total 319 – which is slightly less than the previous year at this time, is still on target to meet the projection of 345 Kindergarten students for September 2018. Further registrations are expected between now and September. 

3. 2018 Skills Manitoba Competition
• Skills Canada Manitoba (established in 1998) is a not for profit, charitable organization that works with employers, educators, labour groups and governments to reposition skilled trades and technology careers, as a first-choice career option for Manitoba youth.
• The Skills organization guides students toward available opportunities in skilled trades and technology through events and programs like the skills competition.
• The Board of Trustees would like to acknowledge and congratulate the following GVSD students on a job well done at the Skills Manitoba Competition:
o Emmanual Richtor – GVC – Outdoor Power Sports and Recreation
o Helen Wall – NPC – Nail Technology (Silver)
o Miranda Klippenstein – NPC – Esthetics (Gold)
o Emily Isaac – NPC – Job Skill Demonstration (Bronze)
o Riley Dueck – GVC – Automotive Technology
• A special congratulations go out to Miranda Klippenstein on representing Manitoba at the 24th Annual Skills Canada Competition taking place in Edmonton, AB from June 3-6, 2018.
4.  2018-2019 Staffing Update
• To date, 59 of 70 teaching positions have been filled for 2018-19.  The remaining 11 positions are in process and will be complete as soon as possible.
