The Payroll Manager’s primary focus is to ensure the administration and successful processing of the payroll is completed for all employee groups.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, adapt to new challenges, and work effectively as part of a team. 

Primary Duties:

  • Process payroll for GVSD staff
  • Prepare and submit all payroll remittances for the appropriate employee groups
  • Prepare all Record of Employment information for the appropriate groups during school breaks
  • Maintain a variety of databases as they relate to the payroll department 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Preferred post-secondary training and/or experience relevant to the position
  • Effective written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Experience working under the direction of a school board structure would be considered an asset
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously would be an asset
  • Team building skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Decision making skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong work ethic and good attendance record required

Garden Valley School Division is a dynamic, innovative and visionary school division located in the heartland of industrialized south central Manitoba. It has a student population of about 4,500 and has seen a steady growth rate over the last number of years. The City of Winkler, the industrial hub and home to the division’s administrative office, two high schools and four of its eight primary/elementary administrative units, has all of the amenities of a larger city within a rural setting. It is seventy-five minute drive south of the capital, Winnipeg, and twenty minutes north of the United States border.

Salary and Benefits:
