General Process
In order to process a child's new school registration, the school division will need the following information:
- Child's name
- Date of birth
- Current grade in school (if applicable)
- Name of current school (if applicable)
- Address of new residence in Winkler (this is important because it will help determine which school the children will attend)
Once the above information is received, the information will be forwarded to the respective school, the transportation department (if applicable) and to you. If registering during the summer—please go to the assigned school the week before Labour Day weekend (Monday—Thursday) to finalize registration at that time. If registering during the school year—please go to the assigned school at your earliest convenience to finalize registration at that time.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2010-2011 school year will take place from Monday, February 8, 2010 through Friday, February 19, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during each school day [See schools list in the announcement letter]. Children born in 2005 or earlier are eligible to register. Registration forms are available at the schools. Please bring your child's birth certificate or other proof of age, if available. It is important that your child is registered on time to arrange classes for all who wish to attend Kindergarten. For those who did not attend Kindergarten last year but plan to enrol in a Grade 1 class in September, registration will also take place during this time. Admission of Non-Resident Students
Non-resident students wishing to attend schools within Garden Valley School Division will be required to fulfill the necessary procedures for admission. Please see the following admission procedure documents for more information on specific admission situations:
