The Operations department is committed to supporting learning in GVSD by providing students and staff with safe, clean and environmentally comfortable facilities. Operations manages 16 facility sites, including 12 schools, comprising of approximately 460,000 square feet of facility space (including 90 acres of property). Transporation, a branch of Operations, ensures that the divsion is equipped with a safe and efficient transporation system.

GVSD has a strong team of people working together to ensure that all of our facilities and busses are maintained properly and safely.

There are many interesting career opportunities available in Operations. Examples include:

Maintenance Technicians - working at all GVSD facilities, involving skilled trades in the areas of carpentry, millwork, welding, mechanics, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, locksmithing, and more.

Custodians - working in modern facilities as head custodians, senior custodians, junior custodians, and part-time custodians.

Bus Drivers - working daily to ensure that students are transported safely each day, whether travelling to schools or field trips, etc.

Bus Garage Technicians - maintaining all technical/mechanical aspects of our school busses at a facility that is shared with Western School Division.
