Att: Parents/Guardians/Students of Garden Valley School Division
First of all, I want to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for your diligence and patience as we all do our part to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
These are unprecedented circumstances and the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remain the top priority. As you all prepare for Spring Break with your children, we wanted to provide you with an update regarding the COVID-19 situation in Manitoba.
On Thursday March 26, 2020 Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s Chief Public Health Officer spoke to the transmission of COVID-19 in Manitoba, to the importance of social distancing, and to the possibility of an extended class suspension period. We have been advised that an announcement with additional health orders and direction to school divisions will be coming out next week. Updated information will continue to be communicated through the GVSD website at www.gvsd.ca.
While this continues to be a time of challenge and uncertainty, we do have Spring Break next
week. We encourage families and students to put their schoolwork aside and take this much needed time for rest, relaxation, and recharging. This is important every year but perhaps this
year more than most.
In the meantime, we encourage everyone to continue best practices and government direction as it relates to thorough handwashing, respiratory etiquette and social distancing where possible. Please also continue to consult Manitoba Health to receive accurate information at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/.
Once again, please accept my sincere thanks to everyone for your continued support and understanding during this time.
