GVSD Announces Vice Principal Appointments

blue bulletPress Release: J.R. Walkof School Vice Principal

Garden Valley School Division is pleased to announce that Warren Wall has been appointed to the 25% permanent Vice Principal / 75% Resource/Guidance/Health Teacher position at J.R. Walkof School. This appointment will be effective September 8, 2020.

Warren graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 2001. He currently serves the division as the term Vice Principal at J.R. Walkof School in combination with his permanent Guidance Counselor/Student Support Teacher position. Warren has been with Garden Valley School Division for 18 years and has been a valued member of the J.R. Walkof School community for his entire career.

Warren’s educational philosophy belief, in part, states that “an educational setting needs to be a caring and nurturing environment. Supportive, welcoming and positive environments enable students to do their best in learning. High expectations are imperative for academic and behavioral success. Differentiated instruction allows teachers to target instruction to meet the needs of each student and enables each student to learn and achieve to high levels.”

Warren lives in Winkler with his wife, Tammy, and 3 children. All 3 children currently attend school in GVSD.

blue bulletPress Release: Northlands Parkway Collegiate Vice Principal

Garden Valley School Division is pleased to announce that Raffaele Bagnulo has been appointed to the 25% permanent Vice Principal / 75% Teacher position at at Northlands Parkway Collegiate. This appointment will be effective September 8, 2020.

Raffaele graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1989. He holds two Post Baccalaureate degrees in Early and Middle Years Mathematics and Special Education. In addition, he completed his Masters of Education Degree in Inclusive Education in 2018. He currently serves the division as a Resource Teacher at Northlands Parkway Collegiate. Raffaele has been with Garden Valley School Division for 11 years and has been a valued member of the Northlands Parkway Collegiate community since 2013.

Raffaele’s educational philosophy belief, in part, states that “In the senior years, I believe that it is critical to look at the whole learner, and to support them in their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. The classroom needs to be a place in which learners feel safe to explore their own learning styles, and to celebrate the learning styles of others”. He adds, “we can help students further understand themselves as the unique learners that they are, and we can help them to further understand the diversity of others so that they can continue to move through the journey of their lives as lifelong learners”.

blue bulletPress Release: Winkler Elementary School Vice Principal

Garden Valley School Division is pleased to announce that Mary-Anna Aaldyk-Doerksen has been appointed to the 50% Permanent Vice Principal position at Winkler Elementary School. This appointment will be effective September 8, 2020.

Mary-Anna graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1989. She currently serves the school division as the term Vice Principal at Winkler Elementary School in combination with
her permanent Resource Teacher position. Mary-Anna has been with Garden Valley School Division for 18 years where she has taught Grades 3, 6, 7 and 8 along with Human Ecology. Mary-Anna’s vast experience will be valued in this new appointment.

Mary-Anna’s educational philosophy belief, in part, states that “collaboration with the whole team is important. Teachers, parents, students, and support personnel all help to ensure that the best opportunities are provided for all students”. She goes on to say “relationships with all students is KEY. Look them in the eyes. Say their name. Show that you value them and their opinions”.

Mary-Anna and her family currently reside in Winkler. Mary-Anna is married to Garth Doerksen and together they are entering the next stage of life as their last child graduates from high school and all three children are on to exploring new adventures. Mary-Anna is looking forward to supporting and serving the WES community.
