It is with pleasure that we announce that Mrs. Liz Stobbe, Library Technician at Northlands Parkway Collegiate, has been awarded the 2017-2018 Manitoba School Library Association (MSLA) Library Support Staff of the Year award.
The award was presented at the MSLA annual membership and gala event held on May 7, 2018 at the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg.
The Manitoba School Library Association (MSLA) is an association that promotes school libraries, by advocating services, resources, and programming in school libraries across all Manitoba Schools. Mrs. Stobbe was nominated by NPC’s Vice Principal, Jeff Osinski, for the award. The nomination went to the MSLA and was voted on by the board members. This award recognizes a Library Support Staff who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement or leadership in their library and/or in their school division in Manitoba. This is the first time someone has received an award from the MSLA outside of Winnipeg.
Reflecting on receiving this honour, and what the award means to her, Mrs. Stobbe said "I didn’t know I was up for this award, so I was very shocked, honored and humbled all at the same time. I am thrilled and appreciative for this unexpected recognition of my efforts for a job I love to do, especially when there are so many dedicated and capable people. I am delighted and honored to have won this award!"
The MSLA acts as a vital liaison with Manitoba Education and with provincial, national and international school library associations. See the following link to more information on the MSLA and this year's award recipients: https://www.manitobaschoollibraries.ca/
