RRTVA Spotlight: Auto Technology, Winkler

The Automotive Technology program at Garden Valley Collegiate teaches students how to maintain, service, and repair automobiles. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on shop experience, students learn to diagnose mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs. This program provides essential skills for working with motor vehicles and other equipment.

Measles Cases at Southwood School

Southwood School within the Garden Valley School Division has been notified by Public Health that two individuals with measles attended the school and rode school bus number 83 on April 14 and 15, 2025. As a result, students and staff may have been exposed to the virus during this time. Public Health is currently following up.

School of the Month - Garden Valley Collegiate

Garden Valley Collegiate is committed providing opportunities for students to develop the skills to thrive both within and beyond high school. After gathering data locally, (Chamber of Commerce, Alumni) and through academic research, it was determined the Global Competencies provide all students with the necessary skills. These competencies include character, communication, creativity, citizenship, critical thinking, and collaboration help our students prepare for what lies ahead.

"It was fantastic!" said Board Chair, Leah Klassen, noting they had a great turnout. Part of that, she noted, was due to a Parent Advisory Council (PAC) orientation held prior to the consultation.
