Southwood School within the Garden Valley School Division has been notified by Public Health that two individuals with measles attended the school and rode school bus number 83 on April 14 and 15, 2025. As a result, students and staff may have been exposed to the virus during this time. Public Health is currently following up.

In light of this situation, Public Health has asked families to monitor for measles symptoms, including:

  • Fever (38.3°C / 101°F or higher)
  • Cough, runny nose, or red eyes
  • Rash that typically starts on the face and spreads across the body

Southwood School is working closely with Public Health to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and families.

Public health will be available at Southwood School on April 24, 2025 from 4- 7 pm to provide the MMR vaccines.  The clinic is open to both students and the community.
