Welding

The Welding program at Morris School equips students with the skills needed to begin a career in the welding industry. Students learn to cut and join various metals using a range of tools, techniques, and equipment used in the trade.

Hands-on learning is at the core of this program. After learning the theory behind each welding process, students apply their skills through practical projects. These may include utility trailers, ornamental railings, gym equipment, and community-requested builds. Standout projects from past classes have included sand rail dune buggies, customized golf carts, and a V-8 powered trike.

In addition to welding techniques, students also study safety, blueprint reading, math, and metallurgy to support their practical training. The program prepares students for entry-level employment or further apprenticeship training.

The Welding program is accredited by Apprenticeship Manitoba. Students who complete all eight credits with a minimum 70% average may receive recognition for Level 1 in-class technical training in the Welding trade.

Students can also earn practical apprenticeship hours through the High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP), with work placements available during evenings, weekends, or school breaks.

Students interested in the Welding program are encouraged to visit the RRTVA website for more information.
